Einde vakantie(s)
Het kan helaas niet altijd feest zijn. Na bijna al m'n verlofdagen deze zomer opgemaakt te hebben is het weer tijd om te gaan werken. Vanaf morgen weer.
Na de Mallorca vakantie, die zeer geslaagd was, kwam ik gisteren terug van een weekje Nederland, waar ik o.a. naar Mysteryland ben geweest. Ook een erg geslaagd feest.
Vlak voordat ik naar Nederland ging nog in Malaga geweest, waar het zicht uitzonderlijk goed was. Je kon een groot gedeelte van de Afrikaanse noordkust zien. Op onderstaande foto zie je Gibraltar met aan de andere kant Marokko:
Ben weer van plan om wat cockpit movies te maken de komende tijd, maar dan vanaf een andere invalshoek, waar je wat meer kun zien wat er binnenin gebeurt. Eens kijken hoe me dat gaat lukken (en of het uberhaupt gaat lukken) maar heb iets aangeschaft wat me ermee zou moeten helpen,

Als ik nu nog een plaats vind om hem achter me op te hangen zal het wel goed komen. Ben benieuwd...
Laatste nieuwtje is dat easyJet is uitgeroepen tot beste low-cost airline worldwide. Niet dat ik daar wakker van lig, maar het is wel leuk om te weten.
De rest van de top 5 heb ik nooit mee gevlogen, maar waar geen twijfel over bestaat is dat de ervaring om met easyJet te vliegen een stuk prettiger is dan met die andere Ierse low-cost maatschappij, die volgens mij ergens in de twintig is geeindigd...

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax gave us this tribute: “A strong performer in earlier year Surveys, 2008 is the time for easyJet to truly celebrate as they walk off with the accolade as World's Best Low-Cost Airline". "As we have stated in earlier years, low-cost does not need to, nor should it equate to low-quality service, and easyJet is clear testament that low-cost operations can be delivered with a good standard of customer care and passenger service quality - with their level of customer loyalty clearly demonstrating a winning formula" added Plaisted.
Virgin Blue make a return to the top of the global rankings, placed second worldwide, ahead of 2007 winner Jetstar Airways in third place, with Air Berlin and Southwest Airlines fourth and fifth respectively.
“The next 12 months is going to continue providing real challenges to the world airline industry, and this will be felt harder by many of the low-cost airlines in particular. Evidently their focus will be upon reducing costs, but the key element within such exercises is to prevent alienating passengers with the ever increasing set of add-on charges.
The demise of Oasis Hong Kong earlier in 2008 underlines the fact that there is not really a sustainable market for long-haul low cost airlines, and we would be surprised to see any change in that market for at least 2 years .... the full service airlines generally compete well on long-haul fares, and with charter airlines also in the market, long haul low-cost does not have any true pent-up demand to satisfy" added Edward Plaisted.
Chief Executive, Andy Harrison commented: "It is an honour to be receive the Skytrax award. We have an ambition to be recognised as the world's best low fares airline and the global nature of the Skytrack survey makes this a very important milestone for us."
